Kenneth J. Songy Jr, 69, of Pearl River, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, in Pearl River.

Kenny was born August 26, 1955, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Kenneth Sr. and Iris Manning Songy. He grew up in Metairie and St. Rose, Louisiana, and moved to New Orleans while in college. After graduating from the University of New Orleans, he married Fran Sunseri in New Orleans in 1981. In 1984 the couple moved to Pearl River, Louisiana.

After graduating from college, he worked in the oil industry in New Orleans for a number of years, then left to work for contractors with the Regional Transit Authority, also in New Orleans, overseeing bus and streetcar maintenance and repairs.

Kenny enjoyed fishing, golf, crawfish boils and fish fries with friends and family and traveling with his wife. He enjoyed cooking big pots of gumbo, shrimp and grits and crawfish etouffee. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Kenny was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Songy, and Eric Songy.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Fran Songy; brothers, Gary Songy (Karin), Kirk Songy (Cheryl), Daniel Songy (Jolie); sister, Monica Songy Trepagnier (Tracy); brother-in-law, Albert Sunseri; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Songy. He was close to all of his nieces and nephews, but especially to Richard Songy, Jr. and his family, and to Caitlin Berni.

Memorial Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, Louisiana, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the memorial service at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
