Lauze "Woody" Joseph Bergeron Jr., 74, a native of New Orleans, a longtime resident of Slidell, and a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, for the past six years, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022, in Ponchatoula.

Woody was born October 31, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Lauze Bergeron and Althea Kraus Bergeron. "Bronk", as he was also known, was a United States Army Veteran, who served in Vietnam, as a member of the 82 ^nd Airborne and was a Purple Heart recipient.  Woody retired from AT& T after 40 years of service, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4 ^th Degree.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sheila Gaudin Bergeron; daughter, Elaine Raymond (Scott); son, Brett Bergeron (Aubrey); step-daughter, Tara Williams (Michael); step-son, Scott Hamann (Claudia); granddaughters, Peyton Williams, Anna Hamann, Aubrey Williams, Rowan Bergeron; sisters, Frances Bruce, Beverly Morvant, Gwen Comeaux; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA 70460 on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Southeast Lousiana Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Verterans.
