Obituary

Marie Louise Boyle Segrave, was called home on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at 11:11 p.m. She was 86. She is preceded in death by her son, Matthew Paul Segrave, her sister, Kathleen Emilie Boyle, and her parents, Edna Marguerite Reine and Joseph Boyle.

Marie is survived in death by her older sister, Ann Barbara Boyle Morris, and her husband, Walter Joseph Segrave Jr. They were married for 64 years. She is also survived by her son, Walter Joseph Segrave, III, his wife, Diane Williams Segrave and their two children, Walter Austin Segrave and Ethan James Segrave, her daughter, Karen Segrave McCall and her husband, Michael Dean McCall of Sherwood, Arkansas.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Marie attended grammar school at Our Lady Star of the Sea and graduated high school from of The Academy of the Holy Angels. After high school, Marie studied nursing at Charity Hospital School of Nursing. After becoming a registered nurse, she worked with infants for her entire career in the nursery and NICU for over 40 years.

Marie was also an avid swimmer spending a lot of her free time swimming as a young girl at the St. Roch pool as well as Stallings pool. She won numerous swimming medals. Her husband, who she married in 1960, said she'd swim anywhere she could. "She was like a fish in water," he said.

Marie was devout Catholic and attended Mass weekly, including Holy Days. Marie also said the Rosary every night, just before bedtime. She was also incredibly dedicated to her family. Marie was wholeheartedly selfless, putting the needs of her family before her own. In addition to her family, Marie loved to travel.

For over 52 years, Marie and her husband traveled extensively throughout the country in various recreation vehicles. In 1995, they purchased an Airstream, the first of three. They joined Wally Byam Caravan Club International where they met friends from around the country. As members of WBCCI, they crisscrossed the United States dozens of times, with their beloved dog Tasha, visiting every state multiple times, including Alaska. They have visited every province in Canada, the Yukon Territory, including a trip to the Arctic Circle.

Marie will be greatly missed by her entire family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dunbar Village located at 725 Dunbar Ave. Bay St. Louis, MS 39520.

Relative and friends are invited to attend the visitation and funeral mass at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9062 Kiln Delisle Rd. Pass Christian, MS. 39571 on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Visitation from 10:00 A.M. until mass time at 12:00 noon.

A celebration of life luncheon will follow at the church hall.

The interment will take place at Biloxi National Cemetery on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11:00 A.M.
