Marie Stunder Jones, 87, a resident of Slidell, Louisiana, since 2021, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023, in Slidell.

Marie was born March 14, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Elizabeth Pankowitz Stunder and Tirenti Stunder. In 1958 she moved to New Orleans, Louisiana.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Mitchell Jones; brothers, Steve Stunder (Lila), Feodore Stunder (Gladys); sisters, Afia Tanzio (Carmen), Anna Stunder, Frances Ganci (Paul); and her parents, Tirenti and Elizabeth Stunder.

She is survived by five children, Anthony Ponceti (Elana), Earl Ponceti (Cheryl), John Ponceti, William Ponceti, Ann Chastain (Jeffrey); five grandchildren, Kenneth "K.C." Ponceti, Brennan Ponceti, Gabrielle Ponceti, Genevieve Ponceti, Christopher Chastain; sister, Dorothy Kwasizur (Robert); and two great grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1050 Robert Blvd, Slidell, LA, on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:00am.

Friends may visit at the church on Friday, July 14, beginning at 10:00am.

Burial will be in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.
