Mark Terrell Juneau, 60, of Lacombe, died Monday, May 15, 2023, in Lacombe. He graduated from Chalmette High School and later from trade school as an inside machinist. Mark began working at a young age throwing newspapers from his bicycle, working at Ponstein's Food Store in Chalmette and trawling for shrimp on his trusted flatboat using the butterfly nets he constructed himself.

He later worked for his uncle at James Terrell Construction where he learned the art of residential construction. Mark began his inside machinist's trade at A & A Machine Shop in Arabi. He later worked at Buck Kreihs Marine Repair in New Orleans, at Avondale Marine in Avondale and at Textron Marine in Harvey. He was a master of his craft and was proud to be one of the two men that worked on the 100-foot lathe that turned the ship shafts at Avondale with minimal tolerance. He was also very proud to have worked at Textron on the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), a class of air-cushioned landing craft (hovercraft), used by the United States Navy. Mark was truly a jack of all trades who could take apart and fix just about anything. But his pride and joy, and a testament to his perfectionism and attention to detail in everything he did, was the home he built, alongside his uncle James, for his family in Brier Lake in Lacombe. He and his family will be forever grateful to him and his uncle James for this gift. Mark's greatest love was fishing. He was an avid fisherman who knew the area so well that he was literally able to find his favorite fishing spots or his way back home in zero visibility.

Mark and his wife, Kathleen, met in 1977 at a high school sophomore dance and were together for 46 years. They were married for 38 years and have three children and five grandchildren. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Donald Juneau, his brother, Darren and his step-brother Chris. He is survived by his mother, Rosemary Juneau, his brothers, Don and Timmy, his step-sister, Donna, his children, Devin Juneau (Liz) Catherine Juneau, and Jennie Juneau, and his grandchildren, Layla Juneau, Lillian Juneau, William Juneau, Ethan Juneau, and Jemma Fayard. His wisdom, his love and his legacy will endure in his family and in those he touched.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 61030 Brier Lake Drive in Lacombe, on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 11:00am.

Friends may visit at the church on Friday, beginning at 9:30am.
