Slidell
Mary Ida Baham Giraud, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022.
Mary was the widow of Judge Thomas L. Giraud (1937-1998) and daughter of Hulett and Mag Baham. She is survived by her four children: Judge Patrick Giraud, John Giraud, Lauren Giraud, and Gretchen Russell, as well as her brother Aric Baham and his wife Brenda. She had 10 grandchildren (one deceased) and five great-grandchildren.
For over a decade, she served as a Board Member of the Methodist Health System Foundation. Born in Liberty MS and raised in McComb MS, she spent her high school years acting on stage, participating in beauty pageants, and modeling for one of the local dress shops. After graduation, she moved in with her godparents J.B. and Cy Hickey to attend the University of New Orleans. Soon afterward, she met the love of her life and married in 1962. She and her husband Tommy raised their four children in New Orleans, which she embraced as her new home.
She volunteered through the years with Lutheran High School and Methodist Hospital. She enjoyed playing piano, painting, traveling, and family life. She spent her last five years living with her son John and his husband John Marshall in Slidell, LA. In her final years, she battled COPD, but mercifully passed away in her sleep.
