The Scherer Family of St Tammany Parish is deeply saddened with the loss of our beloved mother, Mary Ramona"Missy" Stutes Scherer. Mary passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Lacombe at the age of 80.

Mary was preceded in death by her father Francis Stutes; husband Harold Scherer, siblings Patsy, Richard, Ronald, Kenneth, and Lanny. She is survived by her mother Thelma H Stutes; siblings: Wanda Hill, Randy Stutes, Donna Stutes, Greg Stutes (Ana), Melanie Stutes, Tim Stutes (Karen), two children: Harold Scherer Jr. (Kathy), Monique Jessie (Jimmy); four grandchildren: Amber Moon, Ashlyn Vickers (Jonathan), Andrew Scherer, Christian Scherer; and two great-grandchilden: Mia Scherer & Amelia Moon.

Mary was a native of Lafayette and a resident of Slidell since 1996. Mary received her Bachelor's of Education from Newcomb College & her Master of Education from Southern University of New Orleans. A teacher for over thirty years, Mary enjoyed educating the youth of New Orleans. When Mary wasn't working, she enjoyed sipping on red wine and spending time with her family. Mary loved to watch her husband Harold play with his band, the Dixieland Saints. Mary was a wonderful Wife, Mother and Friend and will be missed by many.

The Family wants to recognize Saint Tammany Hospice and much love to Susan Orser, St Tammany Hospice Nurse, for her compassion, understanding and love that she showed when dealing with Mary and family.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass which will be held at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 58203 LA 433, Slidell, LA, on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 11:00 am. Friends may visit at the church beginning at 9:00 am.

Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell immediately following the mass.
