Maurice F. Durel Jr., age 81, a longtime resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, in Slidell.

Maurice was born November 27, 1941 to Maurice and Beryl Durel in New Orleans, Louisiana.

He was a prankster and jokester, a friend to all, and never met a stranger.  He enjoyed meeting his friends for breakfast and loved his fried eggs and coffee.   He was an outdoorsman and loved working in his vegetable garden.  Most of all he loved his cruises and being with family.  He was always happy and smiling and his absence will leave a huge void in all of our lives which can never be filled.  He was special!

Maurice is survived by his beloved wife of over sixty years, Karen; children, Debbie (Irion), Michele (Dennis), Diane, and Michael (Stacy); sister Jackie (Bernie); eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

To honor his wishes, there will be no memorial services.
