Chief Max V. Rodriguez, (Slidell Police Dept. Ret.), passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, August 13th, 2022 at the age of 89.

He is survived by his wife of 44 Years Eleanor Pichon Rodriguez; his children Max "Lukie" Rodriguez, Cori Matranga (Darryl), Harry "Will" McBride (Patricia), Michael Rodriguez (Joycelyn), Tanya Munson (Matthew), and Rhett Rodriguez (Jennifer); grandchildren Brandi, Ryan (Kaylea), Michael Jr. "Mikie" (April), Vincent "Dougie", Heather (Jason), Kyla (George), Shelby (Brandon), Todd, Mallory, William, and Jocelyn. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and he was expecting another one in September; Brother Norbert Rodriguez (Florence); Sisters Shirley Donner, Charlene Alleman, and Connie Howard. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Max was preceded in death by his father Frank; mother Hilda; previous wife Marlene Link Rodriguez; sisters Theresa Pankau and Geraldine Pouyadou; brothers Albert Rodriguez (Mary Ann) and Bobby Murray; daughter in law Deana Foster Rodriguez.

Max was born on July 14, 1933 in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of Slidell, LA where he was elected Chief of Police in 1978 and held office until he retired in 1990. Max served in the United States Coast Guard and was a member of numerous clubs and organizations including the Rotary and the American Legion. He was elected to the Board of Trusties for the Municipal Police Employees Retirement System. He was crowned king of the Mardi Gras Ball in 1985 for the Slidell Women's Civic Club and king in 1989 for the Bayou Liberty Pirogue Races. He also served as an Usher at St. Genevieve Catholic Church. Max thrived to serve his community and be a helping hand to those in need. He enjoyed living on the water and having family gatherings. He will be forever remembered as "Chief Max" by his friends, co-workers, and all that loved him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME,

on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 11:30 A.M.

Interment will follow at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery,

Visitation on Monday after 9:30 A.M. until funeral time.
