May Arlee C. Usannaz, age 97, a native and longtime resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in Wiggins, Mississippi.

May was born October 9, 1927, in Slidell, Louisiana, to Tom William and Kate Randazzo Crawford.  In November of 1963, she married Noel A. Usannaz.

May, along with her husband, Noel, also known as Captain Noel, were the owners of May's Seafood, a family owned and operated business in Venetian Isles, Louisiana.  They were instrumental in the Commercial Fishing Industry, providing endless research, much of it documented and published by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, for the sustainability of the industry for generations yet to come.

Mama was very active in the community, in numerous homemakers' groups, such as Silver Sneakers, and Volunteers of America, whom she was a member for over 15 years. She was a member of the choir at Our Lady of Lords Church, and Saint Genevieve Church. She had an ENDLESS love for her family and friends.

May was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Kate Crawford, her husband, Capt. Noel A. Usannaz; three brothers, William Crawford, John Crawford, Maurice Blondau; and a sister, Olga Pajal.

She is survived by five children, William T. Furchak, Robert T. Furchak, Susan Ledet, Judy Borgos, Agela Shockley; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives.

Funeral Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, LA 70460, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. The visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the service at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
