Michael P. Hallal Sr., 86, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, a longtime resident of Chalmette, and a resident of Slidell since 2005, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Slidell.

Michael was born May 2, 1937, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Joseph and Anita Hallal.

In the early 70's he moved to Chalmette, and relocated to Slidell in 2005.

Mike was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph Hallal, Anthony Hallal, George Hallal, Francis Hallal, Jude Hallal; stepfather, Charles Driggers; and three sisters, Patsy White, Mary Lafitte, and Theckla Phillips.

He is survived by three children, Michael Hallal Jr. (Madeleine), Charles Hallal (Connie), Michelle Pazos (John); five grandchildren, Patrick Hallal, Nicholas Hallal, Holly Hallal, Sarah Pazos, Laura Pazos; one greatgrandchild, Paisley Blackwell; former wife and lifelong friend, Irene Hallal; nieces,nephews, and other relatives.

Michael was a master plumber for over 40 years. During that time, he built a respected and successful business that was well known throughout the area.

Michael had many interests and hobbies which included his love for piloting ultralight aircraft, chess, reading historical biographies, and listening to classical music all of which was passed on to his children and grandchildren. Michael loved to share these interests and experiences with his family.

Michael was an avid workout enthusiast into his eighties.  He was affectionately know as "The Strongest Man at the GYM" by his friends.

Memorial Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA, on Friday, February 2, 2024.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the memorial service at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
