Michael Emeric Watson, 72, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Slidell.

Mike was born August 6, 1953, in Alexandria, Louisiana. In 1975, he married Betty Ruth Upton Watson in Slidell, Louisiana with whom he shared 42 years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rita Gayle Gaspard Walker and Joe Walker; and his first wife Betty Watson.

He is survived by his wife Catherine McIntosh Martorana with whom he later found companionship and happiness; two children, Emeric Watson (Susan), Erica Smith (Ray); five grandchildren, Emily Watson, Andrew Watson, Beaux Watson, Tyler Smith, Blake Smith; sister, Caron Sharpe (Jim), brothers, Steve Watson, Joey Walker (Cindy); nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mike was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished brother, uncle, and loyal friend to countless people whose lives he touched throughout the years. Known for his warm smile, generous spirit, and gift for conversation, Mike truly never met a stranger. Whether sharing a story, offering a helping hand, or simply making someone feel welcome, he had a remarkable ability to connect with others.

Mike enjoyed a successful and respected career in oil field sales, where his strong work ethic, integrity, and natural ability to build relationships earned him the admiration of colleagues and customers alike. He took great pride in his work and the many friendships he made along the way.

Outside of his career, Mike found his greatest joy in spending time with family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors and treasured every opportunity to be on the water, in the woods, or gathered around a campfire sharing stories and laughter.

Mike was also deeply committed to serving others. He generously volunteered his time with veteran organizations, supporting those who had served our country and honoring the sacrifices they made. His compassion, patriotism, and willingness to give back reflected the values by which he lived.

Above all else, Mike loved his family. He was a steady source of strength, wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him.

Mike will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of friends.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in remembering a life well lived—a life filled with love, laughter, friendship, service, and devotion to family.

Memorial Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA 70460, on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Visitation will begin at 11:00am followed by the service at 1:00pm.

Burial will be at a later date in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
