Obituary

Monique Matranga Gomez, of Slidell, LA, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with breast cancer.

Monique was born on August 16,1975 to Robert Charles and Sandra Mejia Matranga. She grew in the Northshore Beach/Carr Drive area of Slidell. She was a graduate of Salmen High School, class of 1993.

She was a hard worker, always reliable and took great pride in her work. Monique's dedication to her children, husband, family, and friends was unwavering until the end. She was also a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Slidell.

Monique was preceded in death by her daughter, Makana Marie Gomez; her father, Robert Matranga; and her grandparents, Alfonso & "Sweedie" Mejia and Vincent & Carrie Matranga.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Gomez; daughter, Grayce Gomez; mother, Sandra; brothers, Darryl (Cori), Darren, Bobby (Rhonda), her sister, Renee (Gil); her best friend Jayne Caballero (Louis), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is also survived by her beloved dog Piper and cat Johnny Cash.

The family would like to thank everyone for the prayers, support, meals, and love shown to Monique, Grayce, and Ray. Especially:

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at First United Methodist Church of Slidell, 433 Erlanger Avenue, Slidell, LA., on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 A.M.

Pastor Lisa Pridmore, officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall.

Visitation at the church on Saturday after 10:00 A.M. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Music Ministry to keep "Raising A Hallelujah"
