Obituary

Major Moses Cervantes, U.S.M.C. (Ret.), age 87, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023.

Moses was born at home, January 23, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas, the 13 th child of Jose and Susanna Cervantes. A graduate of Northside High School (now John Marshall High School), he later attended and graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in Design Engineering. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1960, retiring 25 years later in 1980 at the rank of Major. While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he became a Blue Lodge Mason and was passed and raised to Master Mason within 35 days. He was an Inspector General Honorary of the 33 rd degree of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in North Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi and served his different chapters as Worthy Patron 9 times and served on numerous Grand Chapter and local committees and as a Grand Representative of Alberta, Canada.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his brothers; Joe, Pat, Ferdinand, Manuel and Ben, his sisters; Carmen, Minerva (Minnie), Mary Louise and Rose. He is survived by his wife Molly Kellum Cervantes, his daughter; Cynthia d'Aquin-Pike (Barry) of Independence, LA, his son; Steven Cervantes of Franklin, TN., his two grandchildren, Joseph DiMaggio, Meagan d'Aquin-Mouch (Stephen) of New Orleans; three great grandchildren; Kaiser Farr, Aviendha DiMaggio, Sybastienne Moran, his faithful dog companions; Chongo, Elfie and Jack, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Service at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME,

1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA
on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 12:00 O'clock noon.

Visitation on Saturday after 10:00 A.M. until funeral time.
