Nancy Whipple Whisenhunt, 94, a longtime resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Slidell.

She was born on October 24, 1931, in Springfield, Missouri, to Nancy Elizabeth Springer Whipple and Alvin Anson Whipple. Nancy grew up alongside her beloved sisters, Virginia Elizabeth Whipple Strathdee (Ginny), Edith Whipple Jackson, and Eleanor (Connie) Whipple Jones, sharing a close bond that remained throughout her life.

Nancy married Ray Moore Whisenhunt and was blessed with two sons, David Alan Whisenhunt, who preceded her in death at the age of 17, and Michael Ray Whisenhunt.

She is survived by her sister Ginny; her son Michael and his wife, Johnnie; her grandsons, John-Michael Forbes Whisenhunt and his wife, Jennifer, and Mark Allen Whisenhunt and his wife, Callie; and six great-grandchildren: Jack, Henry, Nathan, Neela, Vani, and Baby Boy Whiz.

Nancy was an active member of the Republican Women's Club and the Slidell Garden Club. She loved working in her garden, where she found peace and joy tending to her flowers. A gifted gourmet cook, Nancy delighted in preparing beautiful meals for her family and friends, expressing her love through hospitality and the table she so thoughtfully set. Later in life, she and her sister Ginny enjoyed singing together in the Lemurian Choir.

Nancy shared an especially close bond with her son, Mike. They treasured long conversations, swapping stories, and telling jokes together. Her delightful laugh was one of her most memorable traits, and it brought joy to those fortunate enough to hear it.

Nancy will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her gracious hospitality, her lively spirit, and the warmth she brought into every gathering. She is deeply missed by her family and friends.
