Newton Richard, 80, of Bridge City, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana.

Newton was born November 25, 1943, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, to Loyce and Armance Richard.  After graduating from West Jefferson High School in Harvey, he entered the United States Air Force.  In 1966 he married Josephine Hand in Germany.

He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad in 1997.

Newton was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Richard.

He is survived by three children, Christopher Richard (Rebecca), Rocklin Richard (Angel), Cheryl Richard; five grandchildren, Thomas Clark, Brandon Richard, Mikayla Richard, Caden Richard, Brooke Blitz; sister, Mercedes Paternastro.

Funeral Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA 70460 on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the funeral service at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
