Norma Rose Scogin, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the age of 90. Though born on February 23, 1936, in Boughton, Arkansas, it was Slidell that she truly called home.

Norma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald, and her two children, Sherry and Gerald Mack.

Norma leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her daughter, Jan (Ronnie); two grandchildren, Joey and Marc (Amanda); and four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Hayley, Addie, and Joe, along with extended family members and friends whom she loved dearly.

Norma graduated from the Charity Hospital of Louisiana at New Orleans School of Nursing and began her career as a nurse, caring for others with the compassion and kindness that defined her life. After becoming a mother, she devoted herself fully to raising her children and caring for her family.

She had a warm and generous spirit and treated everyone she met like family. She loved the simple joys of life, including reading, fishing, playing cards with friends and family, and spending time with the people she loved most. One of her greatest joys was dancing with her husband, Gerald. Norma also enjoyed attending church whenever she was able and valued the faith and community it brought into her life.

Norma will be remembered for her loving heart, her gentle presence, and the way she made people feel welcomed and cared for. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell, Louisiana on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11:00 A.M.
