Norman Joseph Francioni passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the age of 95. He was born in New Orleans, LA on September 11,1927 to Arthur G. Francioni and Viola Morvant Francioni. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Mary Catherine "Mickie" Francioni whom he has missed dearly.

Norman spent his childhood in uptown New Orleans and Attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy and served in WWII aboard the USS Sangamon in the Pacific Theater. After the war Norman moved to Arabi, living in the Lebeau House with his family. In 1950 Norman married the girl from around the corner, Mickie. Norman and Mickie moved back to New Orleans eventually settling in Gentilly where they raised their family. In 1981 they moved to Slidell and spent many happy years living on the lake in Eden Isles, hosting many memorable family gatherings. In August of 2022 Norman and Mickie moved to Trinity Community Care Center. Mickie passed away a short time later. Norman then spent his time swinging his golf club, sitting outside whenever the weather permitted, and brightening the days of the staff and other residents with his visits. But most of all he was anxiously waiting to join Mickie.

Norman was employed by Tenneco Oil Refinery in Chalmette and retired after 28 years of service. Post retirement he joined the Northshore Volunteer Fire Department and eventually began volunteering with the STFPD #1. In 1987 the Slidell Fire Department hired Norman as the Volunteer Coordinator. It was with the fire department that Norman found his true calling, training and mentoring many of the volunteers to go on to become active members of Slidell Fire Department. Perhaps it could be said that his most important position in all these years was driving "Miss Mickie" as she never drove, so Norman was her loyal and patient chauffeur.

Norman's favorite pass time was playing golf at City Park, Eden Isle and Royal golf clubs. He enjoyed fishing and carpentry. With his knowledge of carpentry, plumbing and somethings electrical his family called on him often for help making ornaments to renovating houses. He and Mickey were active members of Brother Martin Parents Club where they formed lifelong friendships with many of the other parents. Norman proudly served as an usher at the 10:30 Mass at Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for many years. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as time with our large extended family, especially the family reunions.

He was the father of Mary Lynne Francioni Siebenkittel (Danny), Norman "Buddy" Joseph Francioni, Jr. (Evelyn), John "Jack" Bland Francioni (Kelly) and the late Jane "Janie" Ellen Francioni.

Brother of the late Cameron "Chuck' Francioni, Thelma "Tee" Olsen and Mona Harris.

Grandfather of Aimee' Francioni, Michael Siebenkittel (Jaci), Randy Siebenkittel (Amanda), Emily Caire (Chris), Gregg Siebenkittel (Sharon), Jonathan Francioni and Sarah Francioni. Also survived by sixteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews all who loved him dearly.

Norman, affectionately known as Norm, Frisco, Dad and Grumpy was a kind, humble, hardworking, loving, and caring man. He was a devout Catholic with unwavering faith. His moral character was second to none. He was a devoted husband, wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, neighbor, and mentor to many.

The family would like to thank the Enhabit Home Health and Hospice care team and the staff of Trinity Trace Community Care Center for the extraordinary love, compassion, care and support. Our Dad, along with the rest of our family, love you all and we were blessed to have you on this journey with us.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Blvd., Slidell, LA, on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation at the Church on Saturday from 9:30 until funeral time.

Interment will be private.
