Oscar L. "Lee" Seawell, of Carthage, NC, passed away peacefully on October 1st, 2026, in Franklinton, Louisiana. Lee was born March 30, 1939, to Oscar Labon Seawell and Marie Boyte Seawell, and was the eldest of eight children.
He is preceded in death by a son, James R. Seawell of Lugoff, SC, daughter Vivian-Leigh Harder and grandson Michael L. Keaton of Gaston, SC, siblings Mary McGinnis, Cecil Seawell, and Clinton Seawell.
Lee held a strong faith in God and a passion for helping others. Working as a substance abuse counselor for many years, he was said to have had an intuition when it came to helping and communicating with patients. He enjoyed playing both the piano and guitar and had a lifelong love of learning.
Lee is survived by his daughters Jaimie A. Seawell of Louisiana and Carolyn Seawell Keaton (Yale) of Lugoff, SC, granddaughter Angela D. Keaton of Gaston, SC, and great grandchildren, Kira and Austin. He is also survived by his sisters Carolyn Seawell and Doris Wann and brothers Kenneth "Mickey" Seawell and David Seawell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, LA, on Thursday, October 8th, 2026. Rev. Clay Combel, officiating.
