Patricia Ann Axtell Hamrick, of Slidell, LA, passed away on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born in January 15, 1936 to Louis and Mary Axtell in Seattle, Washington.

After graduating from Garfield High School in 1954, she traveled throughout the west coast. After spending time in California and Nevada, where she spent time as an open range cook on a ranch, she returned to her hometown.

It was there she met and married the love of her life, Kent D. Hamrick, and soon after completed their family by adopting her beloved son, Kirby Lynn.  They moved to Slidell with the Boeing Company around 1963.  Their darling daughter, Kendra, was born in 1969, the same year Pat completed nursing school.

Pat filled the next 50 years with family, community, and lots of love.   She always had a soft spot for babies, many of which kept in touch even after they were grown.  "Ma" Pat's door was always open.

Pat was an accomplished flutist and violinist, which led her to join the Slidell Symphony.  She also enjoyed performing and volunteering with the Slidell Little Theater, Minnacapeli's Dinner Theater, and Slidell Dance Theatre.   Later she was involved with various avian groups as she raised and cared for her pet birds.

Pat was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Kent Deforest Hamrick, her son Kirby Lynn Hamrick, her parents Louis and Mary Elizabeth Phelps Axtell, and siblings Bernice, Dora, Rita, Charlotte, Alfred, and Charles.

She is survived by her daughter Kendra L. Hamrick, grandsons Jesse Ezell and Connor Johnson, and a plethora of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

By her request there will be no services and she will be placed with her husband at the Southeast Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery.
