Patricia George Mahaffey, age 92, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, in Slidell.

Mrs. Mahaffey was born on January 13, 1931, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Edwin and Sybil Soulant George. In 1949, she married James W. Mahaffey in New Orleans, then relocated to Slidell in 1995, after his death. Mrs. Mahaffey served as a bank officer for many years with Whitney Bank prior to retirement.

Mrs. Mahaffey was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Slidell, and served as a Eucharistic Minister. One of her proudest achievements she and her sisters accomplished together was visitation & mass attendance at every Catholic church within the Archdiocese of New Orleans, which spanned over a twenty-year period.

Mrs. Mahaffey was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Sybil George; husband, James W. Mahaffey; brothers, Edwin M. George Jr., Lloyd J. George; sisters, Sybil G. Williams Gibson, and Shirley G. Cannon.

She is survived by two children, Darren M. Mahaffey, Susan A. Mahaffey; grandchildren, James R. Mahaffey, Chloe M. Gonzales; sister, Beverly G. Kelly (R. Kenneth); sisters-in-law, Ramona George and Marie Mahaffey; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 400 Westchester Blvd, Slidell, LA, on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11:00am.  Friends may visit at the church beginning at 10:00am.

Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery #2 in New Orleans.

Mrs. Mahaffey loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
