In loving memory of Patrick "Pat" Francis Mooney who entered into eternal life on March 29, 2024 (Good Friday) at the age of 86.  He was born in Cairo, Illinois as #7 out of 11 siblings to Frank and Margaret Mooney.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne R. Mooney and their five children: Shannon Mooney (Rebecca), Pam Biggs (Bobby), Kevin Mooney (Ashley), Frank Mooney (Regina), Paul Mooney (Laura). Their 19 grandchildren: Noah Mooney, Sam Mooney, Christabel Mooney, Hailey Biggs, Marley Biggs, Chelsey Biggs, Luke Biggs, Madeline LeBlanc, Adele Mooney, Isabelle Mooney, Anna Frances Mooney, Graham Mooney, Frankie Mooney, Patrick Mooney, Blakely Mooney, Amelia Mooney, Landon Barrios, Cameron Mooney, and Addison Mooney. His two brothers, Joe Mooney, Neil Mooney and sister, Kathleen Alvarez, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Pat was first and foremost a Christian with a never-wavering Catholic faith. He attended Manresa House of Retreats annually to reflect on his Faith and grow closer to the Lord. He was a proud family man and enjoyed the life that he and Anne built together.  He credited her with their children's success.  He truly epitomized the kind of selflessness that the rest of us can only strive for.  He was the "moral glue" that every family needs.

After receiving his mechanical engineering degree from Mississippi State University, he married his soulmate, Lera Anne Robichaux, at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in New Orleans in 1967. He was a fantastic provider for his family, as he worked for 40 years as a NASA Rocket Engine Chief Engineer at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.  He was well liked and respected by his peers and earned the title "NASA legend" upon his retirement.  During his retirement years, he enjoyed fixing anything mechanical from his antique cars to appliances in the house.  He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and never missed a grandparents day at their schools.  He was by far their biggest fan and sometimes the loudest fan!!  He loved birthday parties, especially singing "Happy Birthday to You" and lived for the family gatherings.  "His presence was his present," and God mercifully blessed our family with uber amounts of both!

On his final day, he received Holy Communion and the Sacrament of the Sick. He was comfortable and completely at peace while being surrounded by his family and friends when God called for him to enter into his eternal resting place!!  Pat was the patriarch to his family and his life gave us beautiful memories which we will not forget.  We so miss you dad, Pawpaw, Pat, Coach.  May your Irish eyes keep smiling in your eternal life!!  We can't wait until "… All of us in paradise, find again, our family united in thy sacred heart.  Amen."

A funeral Mass will take place at St. John of the Cross at 61030 Brier Lake Dr., Lacombe, La. 70445 on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 and end at 10:45.   At the conclusion of the Mass, a burial will follow at St. Joseph Abbey at 75376 River Rd., St. Benedict, La. 70435.  All are invited for a reception back at the St John of the Cross community center building.
