PETER COYNE CAPDEPON, age 81, of Slidell, LA, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Dianne Gonzales Capdepon for 60 years. Loving father of Dixie Capdepon Munson and Clinton Capdepon. Father-in-law of Everett Munson and Victoria Gogreve Capdepon. Uncle of Dawn Crouch, Spring Garcia, Craig Capdepon, Angie Guidry, Paulette Guidry Mataya, Norman Mataya, Crystal Guidry and the late Giselle Guidry. Son of the late Mildred Coyne Capdepon and Charles R. Capdepon. Brother of Charles Capdepon and brother-in-law of Barbara Capdepon, the late Carolyn Gonzales Guidry and the late Leonard Guidry. Also survived by his grandchildren, Miller Stock, Amber Stock, Monroe Capdepon, Perrin Capdepon, Bernadette Capdepon, Esther Capdepon and Josh Munson as well as his great grandchildren, Kinsley Munson and Maisyn Munson.
Peter "Pete" Capdepon was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Slidell LA. He was a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School and Tulane University in New Orleans. He proudly played baseball as a catcher during his time at Tulane. He also served in the Louisiana Army National Guard. He retired from Lockheed Martin where he served as a Chief Purchasing Agent for the construction of the external tank of the Space Shuttle. In his youth, Pete was an avid duck hunter and athlete, and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Later on, he took on his true passion of gun collecting/trading/shooting, and ammo reloading. He was a local authority on small caliber weapons and ammunition. He was also an accomplished backyard farmer and jack of all trades carpenter. Throughout his entire life, his primary focus was caring for and spending time with his family. Pete will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and his heart of gold. He was the best husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend we could have all asked for. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA., on Wednesday December 7, 2022, starting at 11:00 A.M., Followed by a Memorial Mass at 1:00PM.
Interment will follow in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY.
