Peter Dominick Mora Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on May 9, 2026, in Lacombe, LA. He was born on February 19, 1929, in New Orleans, LA. He attended Francis T. Nicholls high school in New Orleans and then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving aboard both the USS Norris  (DD-259) and the USS Thomas J. Gary (DE-326), in the Pacific Theater during World War II. During his enlistment, he was awarded the Victory Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, and he obtained the rank of Construction Electrician Lineman 2nd Class (CEL2) when he was honorably discharged in 1958.

Peter (Pete) went on to work for AT&T as a telephone lineman in New Orleans, Chalmette, and Morgan City, then retiring from AT&T in 1982. During that time, he lived on the Chitimacha Reservation in Charenton, LA, where he served on the Chitimacha Tribal Council as the Vice Chairman and later served on the Chitimacha Gaming Commission at Cypress Bayou Casino. In 2017, when his beloved wife, Mary "Pat" W. Mora became terminally ill and was in need of hospice care, both Pete and Pat moved from Charenton, to their grandson, Joshua Mora's residence in Lacombe, LA.

Peter is survived by his grandsons, Christopher D. Mora and Joshua P. Mora, and his great grandchildren, Peter D. Mora, Sofia G. Mora, and Francesco C. Mora. He was preceded in death by his parents; Peter D. Mora and Stella B. Mora, his wife; Mary W. Mora, his sister; Helen S. Mora, his sons; Paul D. Mora and Peter D. Mora III, and his daughter; Dorothea A. Mora.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 10:00 A.M.

Visitation on Wednesday 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. until funeral time.
