Philip Anthony Trainor, 75, of Slidell, LA, passed away peacefully on September 1st, 2026, surrounded by his closest family and friends.
Philip was born on February 23, 1951, in New Orleans to James Trainor and Antoinette Matto Trainor. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Philip was born and raised in New Orleans and later moved his family to Slidell, LA, in 1985. He attended St. Michael's Grammar School, graduated from St. Aloysius High School (present-day Brother Martin High School) in 1969 and attended Southeastern Louisiana University.
Philip spent his professional career as a manager and chemical sales rep for several chemical companies, including Cron Chemicals, Thompson and Hayward, and Harcros Chemicals. His hobbies included scuba diving, traveling, coaching, karaoke, fishing, and hunting. His true passions were cruising with his wife Maureen and their closest friends, Tuesday cigar club with the boys, and playing with his grandkids. Philip was a Freemason of the Mt. Moriah #59 lodge and a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Slidell. He will be remembered especially for his sense of humor and love for his family.
Philip is preceded in death by his mother and father, James and Antoinette Trainor, and his brother Patrick Trainor, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Maureen Scheuermann Trainor, and his brother James "Jay" Trainor Jr., and sister- in-law Margaret Trainor (Patrick). He was a beloved father of Chad Trainor (Jodie) and Ryan Trainor (Megan). Grandfather of Reese Trainor, Gage Trainor, Eliana Trainor, and Colin Trainor. He also has numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Brother Martin High School, 4401 Elysian Fields Ave. New Orleans, LA 70122, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org
Philip’s love, laughter, and memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Catholic Funeral Mass at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 Gause Blvd. West, Slidell, LA on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 11:00 A.M.
Visitation at the funeral home on Thursday after 9:00 A.M. until funeral time.
