RAMON JESUS CANO, age 92, a longtime resident of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell since 2005, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 16, 2023.

Beloved Husband of the late Zoila Cano. Father of Lilliana E. Behny (Jeremy), Raymond J. Cano (wife Erin), Carlos Cano (wife Susan), Maria C. Meringer (husband Chris), Aileen C. Ferrell (husband Gregg), Carolyn C. Potate (husband Steve) and Cynthia C. Sanders (husband John). Son of the late Fernando DeJesus Cano Fernandez and Francisca Santizo Juarez, both of Guatemala City, Guatemala. Also survived by ten grandchildren: Aileen Behny-Perlman (Perl), Robert Behny (Meghan), Ryan Cano, Rebecca Cano, Francesca Stone (Lucas), Christina Ferrell, Vincent Potate, Isabella Potate, Quinton Sanders, and Jocelyn Sanders; one great-grandchild (Logan Perlman) and a host of cousins and other relatives.

A native of Guatemala City, Guatemala, and a resident of New Orleans since 1959, Ramon was a parishioner of St. Gabriel the Archangel until moving to Slidell in 2005 where he later became a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary. Ramon's devout faith in the Catholic Church and his great love for his family were the foundations for his life. The family wishes to say a special thank you to Christine Taylor for all her kindness and care.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1050 Robert Blvd. Slidell, LA, on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
