Randall "Randy" Irwin, 74, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in Slidell, Louisiana.

Randy was born March 6, 1949, in Maryville, Tennessee, to Charles and Mildred Irwin.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the 2nd Armored Division, "HELL ON WHEELS", and he was a two-time recipient of the Purple Heart Award, that was obtained during the Vietnam War, where he was a Helicopter Crew Chief. In 1973, he married Irene Terrazas of Austin, Texas, and the couple moved to Pearl River, Louisiana, then later to St. Bernard Parish. He worked in New Orleans at the Veteran's Administration Hospital for over 20 years, until Hurricane Katrina. After Katrina, the couple moved to Austin, Texas, where he worked 8 years for the Austin Independent School District. After retiring the couple moved to Slidell in 2015, where they currently reside.

He is survived by his wife of Fifty years, Irene Irwin; three children, Renee' Carney (Roy), David Irwin, Eric Irwin; two grandchildren, Shane Saucier, Kane Irwin; sisters, Lynn Herron, Carolyn Herron; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by a brother, J.C. Irwin, Mother, Mildred Irwin, and Father, Charles Irwin.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the funeral service at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana.
