Raquel M. Armirez, 92, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at her home in Slidell. She was surrounded by family and friends.

Raquel was born on October 5, 1933, in Honduras. In the mid-1960s, she came to New Orleans, where she met her husband, Emilio Armirez. The couple married in New Orleans in 1971. In 1983, they moved to Slidell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Armirez; and her two sisters, Argentina Madrid and Estellia Madrid.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Claret (Brian) and Emily Everett (John); her stepdaughter, Anna Borden; her sisters, Olga Quintanilla and Betulia Madrid; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is also survived by her beloved animals, Pele, her little dog, and Felix, her Amazonian parrot.

Raquel had a strong work ethic and took great pride in her work and in taking care of others, especially small children. She had a special love for children that brought her much joy and happiness. When she would go to stores, she often found herself wandering toward the babies and small children. She simply loved being around them.

Raquel was passionate about cooking and baking. She loved entertaining family and friends in her home and sharing meals. She also enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her plants.

She loved being at home and listening to music, especially mariachi music. She also enjoyed going out to eat and became a favorite of many of the employees at the restaurants she frequented.

Raquel loved wearing big, beautiful jewelry. The more sparkle, the happier she was. She had a big heart and was never shy about letting people know that she loved them, even people she had just met.

Raquel will be remembered for her loving and generous heart, her love of family, children, animals, music, cooking, baking, and gardening, as well as her sparkling personality. She touched the lives of many people with her kindness and her ability to make others feel loved.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West in Slidell LA

Visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by the Mass at 12:00 noon.
