Richard Alan "Dick" Mitchell of Slidell, LA passed away Wednesday May 25, 2023, at the age of 87. Born on January 17, 1936, to the late Kenneth C. Mitchell and Dorris R. Mitchell in Elkhart, IN.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years Melanie A. Mitchell, children Mike (Bev), Tom (Yuka), Bob, Greg (Stephanie) and Lisa Cucinella (John). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Stephen, Rachel, Alyssa, Brianna, Kristina, Brittany, Bailey, Geoffrey, Collin, Sydney, Gabriel, Victoria and 5 great grandchildren with a 6th on the way.

Dick served as CEO of the Greater New Orleans Better Business Bureau for 30 years before retirement. He was a 63-year member of the Masonic Lodges Sol D Bayless #359 Fort Wayne, IN and Slidell Lodge #311 where he served as Past Master. He was a longtime active member of First United Methodist Church and many clubs and organizations. Dick had a passion for model trains and WWII history. He loved his country, pets, Notre Dame football and the Indy 500. He enjoyed using his wit to make jokes and comments and just talking to people using his gift for gab. Above all, Dick loved his family.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on June 3, 2023, at First United Methodist Church 433 Erlanger Ave Slidell, LA 70458. Visitation will be from 9-11 with services beginning at 11, officiated by Rev. John Gilmore of FUMC, followed by a Masonic Service with brothers from the Slidell 311 Lodge. A reception is to immediately follow.
