Richard Cecil Johnson, 78, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, in Slidell.
Richard was born on a Wednesday, March 5, 1947, in Sugartown, Louisiana, to Cecil and Mary Elizabeth Johnson. Richard moved with his family to Pascagoula, Mississippi, after graduating from Broadmore High School in Baton Rouge in 1966. In 1968 Richard joined the U.S. Army where he served his country in Vietnam.
Richard was a construction supervisor, building power plants all across the United States. After retirement, he moved to Jasper, Alabama, one of the happiest times of his life, and then to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where he worked at Dollywood.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; as well as two sisters, Betty Pedigo, and Barbara McKeithen.
He is survived by his children, Wendy Chandler (Joseph Russell), Janette Johnson, Nicole Johnson; grandchildren, Gavin Chandler (Ashleigh), Noah Chandler (Amara Rose), Reace Chandler, Bryleigh Chandler, Avery Chandler, Persephone Johnson; a sister, Sandra Sanford (Eric); brothers, William "Bill" Johnson, and Randy Johnson; nephews, Merle Pedigo (Janet), Dustin Johnson, Neil Smith (Brandi); nieces, Kim Blake (Brian), Lisa Dupre (Brett), Tanya Berthelot (Ross), Tina Guidry (Dwayne), Rachel Carden (Robert), Angela Smith, Amanda Borries (Eric); and numerous other relatives.
Graveside Services, with Military Honors, will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave, Biloxi MS 39531 on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 11:00am.
