Obituary

Richard Thomas Nance, of Lacombe, Louisiana, passed away on October 18, 2022, in Covington, LA.

Richard was born on June 7, 1937, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Ollie and Claude Nance.

He was a resident of Lacombe, LA for 40 years and leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Dorothy Fay Nance.  Richard is survived by his two children, Steven David Nance (Liz) and Stacy Nance; his stepchildren, David Luckey (Ann), Rebecca Martin (Trey); and nine grandchildren, Laura Elizabeth Nance, Alexandra Martin Richmond (Miller), Michael John Pilote, Claire Elise Nance, Matthew Francis Pilote, Linus Baxter Martin IV, William Weathington Nance, Jonathan David Martin, and Carson Mills Martin.

Richard moved to New Orleans in 1939 and lived there for 20 years. He attended Warren Easton High School and graduated in the Class of 1957, where he played football, basketball and ran track. He was awarded Second Team All-Prep at by the Times Picayune. After attending LSU, he joined the Air National Guard (159 th Air Base Squadron) from 1954 to 1962. After he received an honorable discharge, he worked for New Orleans Public Service for 10 years.  He later started his own electrical business in 1969, finally retiring in 2009 after 40 years in business.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling and helping raise the grandchildren.  His other hobbies included watching football—his favorites were the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. Richard was a member of Thompson Road Baptist Church in Slidell and was very active, serving as a deacon and treasurer.  He was very thankful to Dr. Greg Bizette and Robin A. Wilson (NP) for their support over the years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Thompson Road Baptist Church 59037 Thompson Rd., Slidell, LA. 70460 on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 12:00 P.M.

Interment will be held at a later date.

Visitation on Saturday after 10:00 A.M. until funeral time.
