Sister of Alice Power (Tom), May Dunphy (Don), William "Bill" Glover (Andy) and Lindsay "Cobber" Glover (Mavis) who preceded her in death.

Mother of Edward James Poppler (the late Lynn), and the late Zane Randall Poppler (Karen).

Grandmother of Wendy Poppler Friend (Daniel), Rita Poppler Davis and Amy Lynn Poppler.

Great Grandmother of Jenna Lynn Arabie, Matthew Edward Friend, Lillian Readeau-Poppler and Reese Elizabeth Davis.

Rita was an Australian native war bride of WWII who arrived in the United States via ship in 1946 at the age of 20. She lived in multiple states across the country with her husband while raising her 2 sons. Those states include Washington, California, Colorado, Kansas and Louisiana. Her career included opening her own dancing school, teaching dance and a long career in Law Enforcement. Her career in law enforcement began when her husband, who worked for Martin Marietta/Boeing, transferred to Louisiana. Rita began her long career in Law Enforcement in 1965 at Slidell Police Department as a radio room dispatcher under Chief Ed Schilleci. Rita left Slidell Police Department to continue her dispatching career at the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office under Sheriff George Broom. After a few years she advanced her career by taking the opportunity to become the first female communications officer for the Louisiana State Police Troop L. Rita always looked at her fellow coworkers as family.

She was known for her strong personality, accent, making others laugh, and the love for her family, friends and coworkers. She was a mother figure to fellow officers and always had their six. After her retirement from Troop L, she worked part time for several agencies including Mandeville Police Department and Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office. She was a jokester who loved to cuss. Many quarters were saved in her swear jar. She had many friends from around the world that loved and admired her. She was a strong woman who could take care of herself, living life to the fullest. She did not live in fear, she lived in strength and leadership while having a big heart. Don't let her sweet, funny Aussie voice fool you because she absolutely told you exactly how she felt whether you liked it or not.

Rita was an example of confidence and knowledge along with wisdom from a life that was fully lived. She worked with her head held high in her best high heel shoes knowing her beauty inside and out. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely, with her whole heart. Every time she spoke with any of them, she would ask "Has anyone told you they love you today? She would aways say, "I do" and meant every word of it. Rita loved getting dressed up for a night out in the town, dancing, singing, her scotch on the rocks, knitting, sewing, cooking, gardening and making new memories. No matter where she went, she made plenty of friends, had a good time and had everyone laughing.

She had a blessed life that she lived her way. She missed her son, family, and friends that had passed before her. She would say she had lived her life, was ready to see all of them again but felt blessed to still be able to get around and have her mind. She swore that everyone was jealous of her beautiful skin because she moisturized with COCO Butter daily for a lifetime. She was looking forward to her 100th birthday party on June 15th. God had other plans, but we know she will be celebrating along with her family and friends for a life well lived.
