Robert Norwood
Mitchell Iii
May 3, 1962 — Jun 25, 2024
Slidell
Robert Norwood Mitchell III, 62 of Slidell, passed away suddenly Tuesday, June 25, 2024. He was born May 3, 1962, in Cape May, New Jersey.
In his early career, Robert was the "bread man" for Colonial Baking Co. He then went on to sell at flea markets, and eventually opened his own shop, Sanford & Sons, in Slidell. Most recently, he joined Camellia City Pizza running the kitchen. In his free time, Robert could be found in his boat on Lake Pontchartrain or having a room temperature beer with the people he loved most in the world: his wife of nearly 40 years, 3 sons, family, and friends that he considered family. Robert will always be remembered as the most loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Rose Bowe Darby, father-in-law Franklin Darby, brother-in-law Frank Darby, and daughter-in-law, Linda Ann Boutwell.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Irma Darby Mitchell, sons Christopher Boutwell, Robby Mitchell IV (Bella Schulz), Adam (Emily) Mitchell, granddaughters Crystal (Daniel) Ogle and Lorraine Mitchell, great grandchildren Elliot and Ruby Ogle, father Robert Mitchell II and stepmother Phyllis Mitchell, sisters Kaethe Melia, Reba Mitchell, and Wendy Watson, sister-in-law Rhonda (Bob) Douglas, brothers-in-law Rene (Cindy) Darby and Clifford Darby (Larry Brueggemier), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to United Cerebral Palsy of Greater New Orleans or the Pontchartrain Conservancy in Robert's memory.
