Robert "Bob" Lawrence Smith, 84, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home in Slidell on Saturday, April 1, 2023, with his wife Suzanne, by his bedside.

Bob was born in Attica, Michigan in 1939, where he grew up on the family farm.  After graduating from Imley City High School, he began working in the aerospace industry with the Chrysler Corporation, who transferred him to the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans during the early ­sixties.  He continued his career at Michoud with Lockheed Martin in the early eighties until he retired as Facilities Help Desk Supervisor in 2001.

In 1990, Bob met and married the love of his life — Suzanne. Together, they created a wonderful, full life that included much love, many friends, travel, and lots of joy and memories.

Although Bob's passing leaves the world a little darker, his light continues to shine within the many who had the good fortune to call him husband, Dad, Papa Bob, and friend.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Smith and Velma Youngs Smith.

Bob is survived by his wife, Suzanne Henry; daughter, Dianna Smith Roy (Stu); son, Steve Smith (Betty Ann); bonus daughters, Jennifer Grady (Stephen), Kristi Henry Waters (Wyatt), Leigh Henry Carriere (James Coullard), and Lynn Henry; brother, Jerry Smith (Linda); and sister, Maggie Milz (Charles-deceased). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life to be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, LA 70460 on Friday, April 14, 2023.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the memorial service at 11:00am.
