Robert "Bob, Bobby, Captain, Jake" H. Sollberger, 71, a native and lifelong resident of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023, in Slidell with his loving daughter by his side.
Robert was born February 20, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana to John and Beatrice Sollberger (Penton).
Robert was a loving father and grandfather. He was a Boy Scout, Sea Scout, avid reader, sailor, explorer, and artist. His calling in life was architecture and design. His passion for his career was unmatched. He dabbled in restaurant entrepreneurship and opened Palmettos on The Bayou with his lifelong friends. He leaves his legacy in the buildings and homes he designed around Slidell and New Orleans. He will be remembered for his genuineness, creativity, generosity, and spirited zest for life. He was a lover of fine foods, calm seas, and good times. He lived his life to the fullest.
Robert was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Sollberger; brother, John Sollberger; mother and father; fiancé, Patricia Curtis; and several lifelong best friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Sollberger; one grandchild, Iris Collins; one brother, Alex Sollberger; and three sisters, Tracy Krieger, Sheree Bouchillon, Vela Tomba.
A private graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Slidell as he will be laid to rest next to his son.
