Royce Gene Nettles, 87, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, in Slidell.

Royce was born August 15, 1937, in Livingston, Texas, to Joe Sherman Nettles and Carrie Tolbert Nettles.  In 1960 he married Doris Ann McWhorter in LaMarque, Texas.  In 1976 the couple moved to Slidell.

Royce was a graduate of Sam Houston State University where he excelled on the Track and Field team as a javelin thrower. He retired in 1998 from Shell Oil Company.

Royce was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Doris Ann Nettles.

He is survived by three children, Paul Nettles (Carrie), Mark Nettles (Deanna), Cris Nettles (Carrie); three grandchildren, Tyler Nettles, Zoe Nettles, and Cate Nettles.

A private family funeral will be held in Livingston, Texas.
