Shirley Margaret Heine Elmore, age 98, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, April 7th, 2024 at Azalea Estate Assisted Living Center in Slidell.

Shirley was a loving homemaker for her family for most of her life. She also served as a poll worker for many elections through out her years in Louisiana.  In later years she volunteered at Slidell Memorial Hospital.  When her husband was alive they also were very involved with Al Azar Gratto in Baton Rouge an organization of charitable endeavors.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James W. Elmore; parents, George C. Heine and Bernadine Mangin Heine; brother, William Heine; sisters, Vera Rimer and Georgette Heine.

Shirley is survived by two sons, James D. Elmore of Frisco, Texas, and Stanley E. Elmore of Slidell, Louisiana; one daughter, Cheryl E. Harper of Covington, Louisiana; brother, George C. Heine;   seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, LA 70460 on  Saturday, April 20, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the funeral service at 11:00a.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
