Shirley J. (Rettig) Hendry

Shirley J. Hendry, age 80, sadly passed away on November 18, 2025. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, relative, and cherished friend to many.

She is proceeded in death by her father Wilford R. Rettig along with her favorite uncle Kenneth J. Rettig.

Shirley is survived by her only daughter Cassity S. Caire and her grandchildren: Chanse, Shae and Brielle Caire. Although she didn't have siblings she had four first cousins: Kathy, Kitty, Kim, and Ken Rettig's who she cherished deeply.

She had a long career with the Slidell Police Department, overseeing the accreditations department along with various other roles. She enjoyed her job and the people she worked with, whom some she became lifelong friends.

Shirley truly loved living life to the fullest, she went tandem skydiving at the age of 70.

She was full of love, kindness, compassion with just a hint of sass. She was unique, thoughtful, and social. She loved talking to people.

She had a kind, calming-soft voice, remarkable penmanship, and a true gift for organization. Things that may seem so little in life are the things we hold closest to our hearts. Never to be forgotten.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 GAUSE BLVD WEST Slidell, LA, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, starting at 11:00 A.M. A funeral service will follow beginning at 1:00 P.M.

Interment will be located at New Palestine Cemetery in Picayune, MS following the service.
