Shirley Matthews, 92, a longtime resident of Slidell, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023, in Slidell.

Shirley was born on Monday, September 15, 1930, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Matthews; a son, Thomas Gagliano; and a brother, Andrew Marino.

She is survived by four children, Michael Matthews, Patrick Matthews, Kathleen Akins, Christine McBride; eight grandchildren; great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Private family services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
