Simon Crier Jr., a devoted husband and honorable U.S. Marine Corps veteran, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with dementia. Simon left this world as he lived it – with strength, dignity, and love.

Simon was born on October 6, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana and was the first of two children to the late Mrs. Mattie Lee Spann Crier and Mr. Simon Crier Sr. He embraced life with kindness, love for his family and a special bond with his late wife Trenia M. Crier. To his family, Simon was a source of unconditional love and unwavering support.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon Crier Sr. Mattie Spann Crier, and his wife of 36 years, Trenia M. Crier. He is survived by his sister Gertrude (Trudy) Crier Weatherspoon, nephew, Shomari Weatherspoon (Vonetta Weatherspoon), and niece, Dortreney (Dottie) Weatherspoon. Simon also is survived by his 3 sisters-in-love – Valeria Aquil (the late Haneef), Shawishi St. Julien (Mtumishi), and Vanissia Morton Prout; his 3 brothers-in-love – Charles Morton (Dorothy), Glenn Morton (Gloria), and Maurrice Morton (Pam); and a host of nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that Simon lived a life of meaning and impact. And so, we send him off with gratitude for the love he gave, the service he rendered, and the memories he leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Alzheimer's Association in loving memory of Simon Crier Jr. A private memorial service will be held for immediate family and friends on Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, at The Wisdom Reception Center (1359 St. Bernard Ave.) and the at St. Roch Cemetery #2 (1725 Music Street).

Following the memorial service, the committal service and inurnment will take place at St. Roch Cemetery #2, 1725 Music Street, at 11:00 AM. Please gather at the Star of the Sea Mausoleum section, facing Our Lady Corridor.

Afterward, family and friends are invited to return to Wisdom Reception Center for the repast.
