Stephenie Dawn Yarbrough Sternfels, 58, of Slidell, Louisiana, while surrounded by her family, was taken home by our Lord on Sunday, June 18, 2023, after an eleven-month battle with glioblastoma.

Stephenie was born in Moulton, Alabama on Friday, June 19, 1964. She grew up in Decatur, Alabama and graduated from Decatur High School in 1982. She attended the University of North Alabama where she was a majorette, a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and a Pike little sister.

Stephenie had many joys in life, but her greatest joy was her family. She married the love of her life, Kirby, on February 26, 2000. They established their home together in Baldwin County, Alabama where they raised their two children, Josh and Savannah. In 2018, Stephenie and Kirby moved into their dream home that they built together on Lake Pontchartrain in Slidell, Louisiana.

Stephenie enjoyed decorating, gardening, road trips, Mardi Gras, playing the slots and lunches with her neighbors in Slidell. She had a heart of gold. She was always looking for ways to help other people. Her passion was spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Kirby P. Sternfels II; her son, Larry Joshua Yarbrough, (Mary Catherine); daughter, Savannah Lyle Dixon; six grandchildren, Gavin-Ray, Knox, Vivian, Lucille, Robin and Ruby Jean; She is also survived by her mother, Patsy R. Yarbrough; sister, Phyllisia Yarbrough Williams, (Robert); two sisters-in-law, Kathy Sternfels Janik (Lance), Kristy Sternfels Miller (Kevin); four nieces, Bailey Williams Jones, Erin Kate Williams, Katelan Janik and Kessler Janik.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Joe Yarbrough; and a son, Ray Sternfels.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 400 Westchester Blvd, Slidell, LA, on Thursday, June 22, 2023.

Visitation will begin at the church on Thursday at 10:00am followed by the Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
