It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Eddins Salassi George, who left this world on Saturday, August 10, 2024 in Slidell, Louisiana at the age of 71.

Susie was a beloved mother and counselor who touched the lives of all who knew her.  Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.

Susie was born March 5, 1953, in Baton Rouge, Lousiana, the daughter of Edmond and Gladys Eddins Salassi.  She was a graduate of Broadmore High School in Baton Rouge where she was a cheerleader.  She went on to graduate from LSU,  where she carried on her cheerleading abilities, cheering for her Tigers.  She was also an avid New Orleans Saints fan who liked shrimp poboys and would not hesitate to treat others to a meal.

Susie was known for her dedication and passion for helping people kick the habit of alchohol abuse.  She was a member of AA and had just received her 24 year pin.  She was a pillar of strength for those around her, always offering a listening ear and a helping hand to anyone in need.

In her memory, let us cherish the moments we shared with her and carry on the legacy of compassion and love.  Though she may not be with us in body, her spirit will live forever in our hearts.

Rest in Peace dear Susie.  You will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Col Edmond A. Salassi and Gladys Eddins Salassi; and a sister, Gladys Salassi Lee.

She is survived by two children, Kelly George, Kenneth R. George Jr; and one grandson, Lucas Daniel George.

Funeral Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA 70460 on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.

Visitation will begin at 9:00am followed by the funeral service at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Slidell.
