Obituary

We are saddened to announce that on December 8, 2022, after a three-year battle with ALS, Terry Kennedy, of Slidell, LA. passed away peacefully at home following an afternoon surrounded by his family.

Terry was born on January 3, 1946 in Northern Kentucky, to Bernard Kennedy and Dorothy Kennedy. He was raised in Ft. Thomas Kentucky with his 4 siblings. His family were active members of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish, where his Catholic faith grew in grade school and later at Newport Catholic High School, where he made many lifelong friends. Upon graduation in 1963, he entered Seminary at St. Pius X where he spent 2 years of college. He went on to attend Villa Madonna College in Covington, Kentucky.

He met Sally Reibling, of Covington, KY in 1965 and they were married in 1967. They proceeded to have five children and spent 16 years raising them in Ft. Thomas. He was a middle school teacher at St. Joseph School in Cold Springs, Kentucky. He then worked for many years at U.S. Shoe Corporation in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was with U.S. Shoe that he moved the family to Slidell, Louisiana in 1984. He received many awards during his time with the company including "Man of The Year" in 1991 for the Easy Spirit Division. In 1995, he left the shoe business and became an Agent for G.E. Long Term Care, then New York Life. In 2005 he became the General Agent of the New Orleans area for Knights of Columbus Insurance, where he remained until his retirement in 2012.

He cultivated many lifelong friendships in Slidell through his involvement with Pope John Paul II High School sports, where his kids attended high school, and at St. Luke the Evangelist Church, where he was an active parishioner and involved with many Catholic Organizations including the Knights of Columbus. He cherished his relationship with these friends and these institutions to the end. He never met a stranger and always had a smile for everyone he met. He was a man of great faith, and his spiritual postings on social media touched many. He was an avid golfer, reader, and a fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He also followed LSU and Ole Miss, where his children attended college, as long as they weren't playing his Irish. He was always the life of the party and loved a good time.

Terry is survived by his wife Sally (Sarah) of 55 years, his five children Terrence Brady Kennedy, Sean Patrick Kennedy (Julie), Timothy Francis Kennedy, Kevin Michael Kennedy (Ashley), Maureen Elizabeth Kennedy; and eight grandchildren Sean Jr., Christopher, Shane, Emma, Hannah, Patrick, Sarah, and Mara Kate.

He is also survived by four siblings, Judy Sceifres (Tom), Jane Greenwell (Mike), Tim Kennedy (Sharon), Jo Ann Corcoran (Rob), as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Brothers in Law and Sisters in Law, the late Tim Reibling (Patti), Dennis Reibling, Mark Reibling (Barb); and Kathleen Swan (Jim).
