Thomas Joseph Chambers, lovingly known as Tom, a former resident of Slidell and a resident of Picayune, Mississippi since 2005, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in Slidell, Louisiana, at the age of 82.

Tom was born November 26, 1942, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Waightstill and Mildred Chambers. Tom grew up in Charlotte and lived most of his adult life in Slidell, Louisiana, Peachtree City, Georgia, and Picayune Mississippi.

Tom proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Goose Bay, Labrador.  In 1964 he married Gwen Bertrand in Eunice, Louisiana. He had a long career as a project manager in the commercial glass industry.

He will be remembered for his fierce love of family, his lively storytelling, and his fun-loving spirit—especially on the dance floor, where his signature move was "stirring the gravy." He had a creative soul, always tinkering, fixing, and finding joy in making things work his own way.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Gwendolyn Bertrand Chambers; his parents, Waightstill and Mildred Chambers; and his brother, Robert Chambers.

He is survived by his daughters, Monica Arms (Stephen), Karla Abney (Charlie), and Dara Chambers (Felipe Gutierrez); his grandchildren, Wesley Abney (Kayli), Emily Abney, Madeline Malinowski (Eric), Bradley Arms, Julianna Arms, Corben Gutierrez, and Anabel Gutierrez; great-grandchildren, Lyla Louise Abney, Walker James Abney, and Grace Chambers Malinowski; and two sisters, Jane Chambers, and Virginia "Gini" Wash.

Funeral Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA 70460 on Monday, June 30, 2025.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon followed by the funeral service at 1:00pm.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
