Sr. Officer Trevor Aron Abney (NOPD), age 34, of Slidell, LA, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 9, 2023, from injuries sustained in the line of duty while serving with the New Orleans Police Department.
Trevor was born in Slidell, Louisiana on August 8, 1988, to Michael Bruce "Ikey" Abney and Teresa Riley Abney.
Trevor is survived by his wife, Randi Hufft Abney, stepson; Anthony Pena, his parents; Michael and Teresa Abney, his brother; Shawn (Katie), two nieces; Allison Gene Abney, Mila Taylor, and one nephew Landon Hufft. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as countless brothers and sisters in the law enforcement community.
He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Alvin Vernon Abney, Lilian Chabreck Abney, Thomas Joseph Riley, and Peggy Darlene Noon.
He was an honor student and graduated from Northshore High School. Trevor then enlisted in the Army National Guard, which included one tour in Iraq and deployment with Task Force Gator in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. He also served as a volunteer firefighter with St. Tammany Parish Fire Dist. #11. Trevor also graduated from Delgado Community College with an associate degree in Fire Science and Technology.
Trevor began his law enforcement career in 2015 with the New Orleans Police Department. He honorably served the city of New Orleans for eight years until being ambushed in the line of duty. He was the recipient of the Medal of Merit for exemplary performance while saving the life of a citizen, as well as the Purple Heart Medal for injuries sustained in the line of duty. He then dedicated his life to being a fulltime husband, stepfather, son, brother, nephew and uncle. Trevor's hobbies included baseball, football, fishing, and gaming. He will forever be remembered by family and friends for his love, dedication, and protection.

Relatives, friends of the family, and the Law Enforcement community are invited to attend the Funeral Service at The Northshore Harbor Center, 100 Harbor Center Blvd., Slidell, LA. 70461 on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 12:00 P.M.
A police procession will then escort Ofc. Abney to his final resting place for Interment with full Police Honors, at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation at the Harbor Center on Tuesday after 9:00 A.M. until funeral time.
