Wade Raymond Mattei, Sr. 84, passed away at his home in Slidell, Louisiana, on Saturday, October 8, 2022, while surrounded by his family.

Born to Peter Lawrence Mattei, Jr. and Minnie Emma Vicknair on May 15, 1938. Devoted husband of the late Janet Claire Lussan. Brother of Peter Lawrence Mattei, III. Father of Wade R. Mattei, Jr. (late Susan) and Bret S. Mattei (Rhonda). Uncle of Mitch Mattei (Donna) and the late Mark Mattei. Grandfather of Ryan Flattmann, Kristen Mattei Boos, Elizabeth Mattei and Josh Mattei. Companion of Mary Ann Anzalone.

A native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell for the past 30 years. Wade served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962. He was a member of the National Street Rod Association and the 39 & 40s Club. Wade's witty sense of humor often made him the life of the party. He loved spending time with friends and family and building street rods. He displayed his street rods at many car shows all over the country throughout the years with his favorite event being Cruisin The Coast.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:30 am at St. Angela Merici Church, 901 Beverly Garden, Metairie, LA 70002. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until mass time. A private burial will be held at a later date.      In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Wade's name.
