Walter Maurice Mayer Sr. "WAWA", age 89, a native of Chalmette, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2023, alongside his family in Slidell, Louisiana. Walter was born on January 11,1934 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Walter was proceeded in death by his great grandson, Peyton Lowery; great grandchild (born with wings) Paisey Mayer; mother, Augusta Seperas; father, Walter Louis Mayer; and sister, Shirley Moulton.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 Gail Ann Perret; two sons, Walter Mayer Jr (Debora Mayer who was more of a daughter than a daughter in law) and Wade Mayer (Beverly Mayer); four grandkids, Walter Maurice Mayer III (Linsey Jackman), Gail Marie Mayer Pell (Stephen Pell), Emily Mayer, and Shelby Mayer. He is also survived by eight great grandkids, Arielle Lowery, Peyton Lowery, Bailee Mayer, Mason Mayer, Mackenzie Mayer, Layken Pell, Lennox Jackman, and Ava Pell, whom he loved so much: two brothers, Joe Mayer Sr. (Joan), and Johnny Mayer (the late Edda) and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Walter was an amazing husband, father, brother, pawpaw, great pawpaw Wawa, and a great friend to all. Walter was in the Army National Guard 1953 thru 1961, which he received honorable discharge. Walter worked all his life, 46years at Equiable, Halter, Trinity Yachts. Walter loved his family, working and loved doing upholstery work.

Walter will be so missed by everyone.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Genieve Catholic Church, 58203 LA-433, Slidell, LA 70460 on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

Visitation will begin at the church on Thursday beginning at 10:00am followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00am.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell.
