Wayne Germann of Slidell, Louisiana, a proud veteran of the Navy, passed away in his sleep Tuesday, January 10th, 2023 at the age of 81 at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

The son of Albert and Ruby (Bales) Germann, Wayne grew up in Woodlawn, Illinois. He was born May, 3, 1941 and attended Woodlawn High School. At the age of 19, Wayne enlisted in the Navy. He valued this service highly and served 20 years, attaining the rank of Senior Chief. A Vietnam Vet, Wayne traveled around the world, from Rota, Spain to Japan, to the Antarctic, and he and his family lived all around the United States. Wayne served in Squadrons VR-22, VP-2, VX-6, VP-10, and VXN-8. After serving in the Navy, Wayne again served as a Civil Servant working for DISA and DFAS.

Wayne is survived by his sons Robert (and wife Bethany) of Orange Park, Florida, Gerald (and wife Stephanie) of St. Augustine, Florida, and Jayson of Slidell, Louisiana, his loving sister Sue Fuller of Chesapeake, Virginia, and grandchildren Amelia, Jarrett, Jalen, Taylor, Jayson Jr., and Alexys Germann. Wayne was pre-deceased by his wife of 50 years Carolyn (Moore) and his sister Patricia Wegmann.

A service honoring the life of Wayne Germann will be held at Southeast Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery in Slidell, Louisiana, in mid-March.
