Obituary

William C. "Bill" Johnson, age 80, a native of Sugartown, Louisiana, and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Bill was born on a Friday, January 26, 1945, in Leesville, Louisiana, to Cecil and Mary Elizabeth Johnson.

After graduating from Broadmore High School in Baton Rouge, Bill received a basketball scholarship from L.S.U. where he played for one season before transferring to University of Louisiana Monroe.  He received his Liberal Arts Degree in radio – television management while working for a radio station in Monroe.

After college, Bill enlisted in the United States Army, rising to the rank of Captain, where he served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star for his service.

Upon returning to civilian life, Mr. Johnson went to work for Xerox Corporation before joining Physicians Mutual Insurance where he worked until his retirement.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil C. Johnson and Mary Elizabeth Weldon Johnson; two sisters, Betty Johnson Pedigo, Barbara Johnson McKeithen; and a brother, Richard C. Johnson.

He is survived by three children, Tina Johnson Guidry (Dwayne), Dr. Rachel Johnson Carden (Robert), and Dustin Johnson; grandchildren, Emma Grace Guidry, Knox Carden, Patton Carden, Cannon Carden; one sister, Sandra Sanford (Eric); brother, Randall Johnson; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Bill will be loved and remembered by all who knew him.
