William "Sonny" D. Boutwell, 87, of Slidell, LA, entered eternal rest into the loving arms of Jesus, on March 13, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was the son of the late Claude Boutwell and Velma Beal Boutwell. He is preceded in death by siblings; Delores Martin, Margaret Elaine Boutwell, Courtney "Shuggie" Delaune, Linda Jean Long, Betty Ruth Rayborn and Wally Boutwell.

Sonny was the loving husband to his devoted wife Carol R. Boutwell. He was the loving father to his two sons; Terry D. Boutwell (Tigest), and Kevin Smith (Ellen), and to his one daughter; Pamela S. Gilmore (Gary).

He was the proud grandfather to Terrell D. Jordan, Jessica Harsh, Dillion Smith, Tanner Smith, Karli Lashinsky, and the proud great grandfather to 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving brother Kenny R. Boutwell. He has also left behind several loving nieces and nephews.

In the 1950's Sonny served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service he returned to Louisiana and worked as a heavy equipment operator, tractor trailer operator, and owned a wrecker/dump truck business. He also worked on the riverfront in New Orleans until he was sidelined from an injury on the Docks.

He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, relaxing, listening to music, watching the New Orleans Saints, cooking and sitting outside on his porch watching nature. Sonny had a big heart, warm smile, was a loyal friend to all and loved by many.

1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST (IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 2:00 P.M.

Visitation on Friday after 12:00 P.M. until funeral time.
